Don’t Doubt Where You Can Go In A Year.

A year ago I was broke, unemployed, and didn’t know what I was doing with my life.

It sucked.

I had finished five years of college, graduated with two degrees, finished a copywriting internship right after graduation, all apparently for nothing.

I didn’t get a job after my internship and was unemployed, living with family while I tried to figure out what was next.

It took a lot to keep fighting.

I would see my classmates getting jobs and moving to new cities across the country.

It was hard not to compare my situation to what social media was telling me about theirs.

Today, I have a full-time job making good money doing a job I love. I am part of a great team and really couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

It is definitely where I am supposed to be.

But it was a long journey getting here.

After that initial moment of unemployment, I ended up winning an advertising competition and getting a job.

But after that job, I was unemployed again.

Over a couple of months, I applied for lots of jobs (like A LOT of jobs). I fought hard for a couple jobs I thought would be incredible, but ended up second place.

Ultimately, I found a job that led me to the job I have now.

There were lots of days and nights that I didn’t know what I was doing. I was so uncertain about so much. Some days it was all I could do to just get out of bed.

Through it all, I kept learning and growing. I never allowed myself to give up completely, even when I was at my worst.

My friends stuck by my side, cheered me on through the rough parts and celebrated my victories along the way.

I believed I would find my way, but I didn’t know what that would look like.

I couldn’t have envisioned how perfect this job would be for me.

No matter where you are in your career, don’t forget how far a year can take you. Your life can look completely different 365 days from now.

Keep believing and working toward your goals.

Don’t give up on yourself and the potential within you.
